My 'Game Design Document'

Hey Huns,

Welcome back to my blog.

I'm kind of confused as to what I have to write about but here goes.

A screenshot of Dundoc after I have click add project

In the game I am designing, the main character is either a penis or a vagina. They will designed more like a cartoon than realistically. The setting is in a clinic which I will make the artwork for. The game works in a collect/avoid way in where the user collects the sperm points as well as boosts and tries to avoid damage causing STI's. The player has the option to jump, slide under or move from side-to-side in order to avoid or collect.

On the first level, the player is taught the instructions via a pop-up notification. Level 1 involves using the side-to-side movement, level 2 introduces the jumping option, and level 3 add the sliding under option. The game take place in a 3rd person view, much like games with similar concepts. Each level will progress through the clinic, from the front door to the doctors office, Seeming as if the player is moving through it themselves.

The character will make a squelchy noise when they move, I will try to compose a theme tune to play in the background, something similar to the styling of the Super Mario Bros game.

The user will control the player using the arrow keys (up = jump, left for left, right for right and down = slide under). The game is single player but works on a leader board system, much like old arcade games of the 80's.

I really don't understand what I'm supposed to do and I have been trying to understand for the last 2 hours. Dundoc will not allow me to create a new project for some unknown reason so I really don't know what to do at this stage. I have also reported the bug to the website.

  1. The same thing happened me for a while. I spam clicked Add Project quickly and it just randomly added then. Hope it gets working for you.

  2. Hello James, sorry to hear about Dundoc. Obviously that program can be temperamental from time to time and cause unwarranted stress. Having just read through your idea, I really enjoyed learning what you want to do with your game. I find the idea of a running penis or vagina really humorous and definitely out there in terms of games ideas. Your game really strongly reminds me of minion rush (I think that's what it was called) where you do a lot of the stuff that you just described there. But considering other games have done similar ideas to what I just listed that might not be too shocking. I reckon if you have trouble composing your own game theme, there are plenty of royalty free similar sounding themes available on Youtube for you that might sound very similar. Of course that's all down to you. Overall I enjoyed reading your idea and I do hope your idea does become a reality and a fantastic game to boot.

  3. Well a good day to you James!

Let me just say that yes sometimes, programs don’t always work out the way you think they do (trust me I know that while having many times trying to download Unity at home, or trying to actually work the tutorials and implement into Unity on the macs in the labs, to a point where I am just by myself in a lab till like 9 at night just broken down to just crying) but they can be easily fixed. Besides all of this I think that your game concept is very interesting and honestly something that can help bring a very important message to a lot of people. If I have a question it would be the likes of 1. Would the main character vary in size or shape and 2. Would their be this ultimate villain that you maybe trying to stop in the end of it. If I were to give some feedback as to what you can also add if needs be or if it will help you can give some kind of backstory or a little bit of some development to your characters and their goals and maybe even give them a voice (I’m not criticizing as they are very interesting characters that you have already, I’m saying as in voice actors/ actresses for the characters to make them more lively). All in all I think that you have a very exciting game concept here and that I look forward to seeing how it will all work out in the end, because no matter what it will turn out great either way.

    Cheerio!!

  4. Heyaaaaa James,

I loved reading about your game, to be honest I think its going to be gas! I agree with you having it more like a cartoon than realistic as it would make it more funnier.

You have done really well as you couldn't use Dundoc, it's a pain in the bum when things don't work but you compromised well and made it work in the end!

I'm really looking forward to playing your game as I have always been a fan of temple run ever since I was young! Can't wait to see your progress as you work towards your final product.

I'll be back to read more!

  5. Hi James,

I really enjoyed reading about your idea. It is most definitely original, which is good. It will certainly stand out in the market. Not only is it humorous, but it also has an educational benefit to it. I can see it being used in schools, possibly as a fun way of implementing sex education to pupils and make it more memorable to keep them 'in the know'.

Sorry to hear about what happened with you with Dundoc. Things like this can be extremely stressful especially when we aren't familiar with it.

Well, I can't wait to see how your game develops, hope it all goes well!

  6. Hi James

I really like your idea its unique, and so original. How did you even come up with something like that?!

I really like the idea behind it of promoting education towards sex etc I think for younger people learning this will be a great game to use for them!

Keep up the great work though
